This has been one of the best weeks this year. Besides the week i quit my job for a life at home, of course.

Sunday we got Apples and have been drying them all week in the food dehydrator. Some plain but some with cinnamon and sugar. Putting them in jars to share. Ah fall. Pumpkin pies are next. Gluten free of course. Did I mention that I make a mean Pie?

Tuesday we awoke to the first hard frost. Actually it was a freeze and I posted the pictures to prove it. Ah Halloween. Including the preparation of said night. All the pumpkin carving and setting up of the luminaries. Even making the cider early so it could simmer for the right amount of time to warm up my cold trick or treaters. Things were wonderful, the yard was alight and the little ones were a little taken aback by the over the top makeup. It made my heart swell. Friends and family all stopped by to “sample” the cider and get cozy before having to get out into the cold air.

With knowing that L had a week or so of vacation planned and that she hadn’t seen the ocean since her 6 year old was in-utero. The chance was seized on a childless day. L stayed the night so we could leave early on Wednesday. We got out of the house a little bit after 5am. Cooler packed and car full of gas we headed over the river and through the woods but not to grandmothers house. The ocean beckoned. We got there quite early 9:30 or so. I have a lead foot. It also helps that neither one of us likes to stop unless absolutely necessary. So once we arrived the entire day was spent beach combing tearing up the sand we even got to nap for an hour or so. We stayed for the sunset even tho we couldn’t see it due to the clouds. The sand and sea turned that shade of slate that only happens at the shore and we headed home. At the top of the pass we encountered flurries and my day was complete. Sand, sea and snow~~ perfect. As for L, I’ve never seen her so relaxed and unworried. If I could do that for her every day, I would.

Thursday I was awoken with the promise of snow. granted it didn’t stick but the falling made me happy.

Today, well today I picked up the film that was dropped off last week. I had been hoping that there were a few with my little man, Spector
in them. I was not disappointed. We got him messing with Scott and a mask, in the cupboard, in a paper sack, laying on a pile of dirty clothes and looking pissed off that we were taking a photo of him. I was so worried that we had found all the photos but I am so happy to have a few more. We even have a few of the girls when they were young and svelte. I’ll post ‘em later in the photo blog thingy.

So that’s been my week. Cool eh?

Yeah.

So I got off my ass and did something.

I went to the ocean yesterday, my sister and nephew were going over and they extended the invite. It was a wonderful Sunday to spend there. 78 degrees, light breeze & a mild sunburn. Lovely. Hardly any tourists so lots of shells left untouched. only bad thing was that the batteries in the camera were so low it was shutting off by itself. Oh well. Got a few in before it went tits up. in fact when we crested the pass the sun was just making the horizon lightly pink and “the mountain”, Rainier, was looking ghostly in the distance, so a picture had to be taken. With the first one the settings were wrong so it flashed and just got the trees and etc in the foreground. but weirdly enough I got TONS of orbs! looking at it now kinda gives me the creeps. But I eventually got a picture of the mountain and even a few at the beach before the camera gave out.

On the way home William decided that he couldn’t possibly go to sleep when he got home unless he had a bedtime story. But because we were not going to be home till late we decided that we would tell the story on the way home. So Goldilocks and the three bears was the story on deck. I narrated and Limetta did the speaking parts. He was entranced. All in all a good time was definitely had.

It would be nice if we could go again this week. But with a 4 hour drive the minimum it may not happen.

Tuesday/Wednesday

Posted by lorenda on May 17, 2006

Well Tuesday was mainly spent traveling. But we did get in a little shopping in Newport. Went to the cat shop and got the kids some cat nip and I found a wonderful frame for my Spector. I also found a cute creamer. The tail is the handle and the spout is the cats paw! We also got to eat at Mo’s. SO GOOD!

Farther down the coast we stopped in Waldport and went golfing at a great little course. We lost more balls than I thought was possible. It was such a challenging course. Boy was it cool.

We got to Reedsport. It reminds me of Yakima. And not in a good way either. I went to sleep. Then we went to dinner, visited Safeway (….Whoopee) & went back and went to sleep.

Wednesday we got a bit of a late start but once we got started there was no stopping us. haha. We decided that today was and 18 hole kinda day. So we get Coos Bay (I like it there & so does Scott) and 1/2 of the course is closed! Over the winter the levees broke and flooded the place for 55 days, with sea water. So it killed all of the low lying grass and they had aerated and seeded it where needed. So some of the fairways weren’t so fair but the greens were. Weird. Like an island with a flag in it. Both of us also lost a few more balls and I almost made a hole in one! But I say almost because I didn’t quite make it. Scott made this little video of my swing. Sadly, I’m still fat.

When we finally got done we went to this great little local restaurant/lounge. Recommended by the owner of the golf course. MAN! The best food! And great drinks and our waitress/ bartender was spot on. With our dinner they served a side salad. It had: 2 slices of pickled cucumbers, 1 pickled mushroom, 3 slices pepperoni, 2 olives, garbanzo & kidney bean medley, mixed greens, croutons and not to much dressing. So amazing! When we left there the sun was going down just over the hill…

On the way home there was a “scenic viewpoint” & I made Scott pull over even tho he was tired, he is so cool. It turns out the viewpoint was of the Umpqua River Lighthouse.

“this photo from the National Park Service”
ie… Not mine

But if you look closely towards the bottom right of the next photo, actually its at the end of the right leg of the A-line dike, you’ll see a small light(you may need to pull it up in a separate window). That is the lens of the lighthouse you see in here! Not to mention a pretty sunset.

Well sadly our vacation has come to an end. Tommorrow will be spent traveling. We’re gonna go to Frye’s and maybe pick up a small air conditioner… no sales tax! Then we’ll stop in Longview at one of Jeff n Lisa’s favorite resturants and pick up dinner for em. Then after we eat, we’ll traipse over the mountians and sleep in our own bed. YEA!

With all the posting I’ve been doing the last few days I think it’ll be a while before i post again. Maybe.

Monday

Posted by lorenda on May 15, 2006

Has turned out to be a shit day(for golf that is). The one that I’ve been drooling over and wanting to come to is closed! So we thought we would go to the course that is directly across the street right? Well it turns out we’re just not smart enough to figure out which road leads to it! it wasn’t well marked at all. No golf today :( and it is such a gorgeous day… Supposed to be a high of 82. Back home its been getting into the 90’s, suckers….

We stopped by the bakery. I think they changed hands, because there wasn’t as many delicious tastys’ to choose from. And the ones we got are not very good. So we went back to the hotel & I watched the tide roll in(Scott decided to take a nap) man I thought it was gonna come through the window! Here is a coupla shots. Just for a reference, the rocks you see, are the same ones you could see from the last post.

Is so nice just to sit here and listen to the surf. I feel completely relaxed and distant from the pressure and tedium of work. YEA VACATION!

SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY

Posted by lorenda on May 14, 2006

We woke up kinda late, as we both slept hard. We found a wonderful little tavern and had a free show. These 2 “older” ladies, who were clearly drunk, were playing pool then 2 other “older” ladies joined them. They were loud, laughing & having a gay old time. One of em’ even started to hit on these “cute young things”. It was way better than any reality TV.

After breakfast on Sunday morning we did a quick walk around and I had to get a kite. cuz I’ve been itching to fly one for oh, quite some time now. Then we decided that we should golf before we headed down the coast. It was a short course. But really nice.

Here is a video of Scott being his non perfect self. And a picture of him relieving the pressure of the work week. Funny thing is, after he tee’d off and we went over the bridge, we seen an outhouse… ha ha ha.

Traveling down the coast we found wonderful views of course…

Once we got to the hotel we were greeted by a most amazing view… Not to mention the surprise of a full kitchen!

This picture is taken right from the patio. Amazing isn’t it? We really got lucky on this one. At least we don’t have to go out to eat for our meals. That is probably the only thing that I don’t like about vacation. I don’t get to cook. But with that full kitchen WHOOO HOO!

The hotel has beach access. So we can step out the sliding glass door and onto the beach, lickty split. We went down after dinner and checked out the rocks that had a few anemones and barnacles.

And yes we went for the sunset. For some reason it seemed as tho the sun took a long time to set. Maybe it was because I was tired and a bit impatient. But it was still beautiful. We were down on the beach during twilight and made our way back up to the room before the sun fully set. Enjoy!

Friday/Saturday

Posted by lorenda on May 13, 2006

Ok Friday was a beautiful day, we got off to a late start & that ain’t no soda. So I don’t know why….

The drive was wonderful and went by much faster than usual. Rainier was almost out and I snapped a few of the ridges still covered with snow.

I’d like to hear the farmers complain of a water shortage now, but they will anyway.

I love old/dilapidated buildings and couldn’t resist snapping a few pics along the way.

We got over to Jeff and Lisa’s about 5:30 and Lisa made the best dinner. We had a great cuc salad and barbecued chicken. Then she served strawberries and angel food cake yum. We (Lisa and I) sat out on the deck till it got too cold, smoking and chewing the proverbial fat.

Saturday morning came, slept wonderfully. Lisa made French toast and sausage. mmm my favorite. Then we hit the road. Seaside was the first planned stop, but we found a great viewpoint and had to stop.

Our hotel is surprising really nice. We even have a tiny balcony.

And yes we went to the beach. Messed around and wasted disk space…

Actually we went to see the sunset. Enjoy

Vacation is all I ever wanted
vacation had to get away
http://www.leavenworth.org/camera/
well it’s not a real vacation but it is a bit of a getaway. We decided to skip town for a coupla days and head to Leavenworth.
I really like this little town. Its really sweet. My folks used to bring us here when we were kids during the summer. My mom has a charcoal drawing of my sister and I when I was 6 or 7. I remember thinking the town was huge. And the Bavarian part is actually a few blocks long but not near as big. Its that whole the world is huge when your under 4 foot and your exposure to the world is so limited.
well other than the drive, which is under 2 hours, they have a little euro marked which has the most amazing brats and sausages. http://www.willissausagehaus.com/ SO FUCKING GOOD!!!!!!!!!! You can’t get decent German food in Yakima, but you can find a mean tamale. So that was our real reason for skipping town.

when we get back to town I have a beading class to go to with a friend. Cool eh? I’ve been beading for 15 years now and have never been to a class. I should learn something new. I’m always up for some learnin”.
work has really been bumming me out now. I have an uber incompetent manager who for some reason feels the need to micro manage. I’m about ready to put the heal of my hand through her bucking nose. Damn golden retriever. She goes through spurts where she is either over involved or under involved.
I found a book that I can’t wait to read. Its called “sweet Jesus, I hate bill Orielly”. I about lost a
nut when I read that. I think I’ll pull it and put it on the front table. That should piss off our customers. In fact our customer base is so conserative… you remember when the dixie chicks made comments against bubba bush? well their cd was on the top 20 and so therefore on every display imagineable, it was always turned around. durring x-mas al frankens’ book was always turned over and somebody else was the same way.. but I can’t remember who. I thought the christian consertive core was thoughtfull and forgiving just like christ teaches. oh wait I forgot, the kkk were christians too.

ok I think i’ve pissed of enough people.

hugs and kisses,
satan

ps please pardon my miss spelling, for some reason its not working. weird.
