Having said many times before that he enjoyed playing and would teach me, I bought my husband a glass chess set about 2 years ago . I finally put it up and we’ve been staring at it now for 2 or 3 weeks, so I challenged him. Both of us had to start from scratch. He had mostly forgotten and I , cuz I’m dumb.

So play began, he was very sure of his moves confidant and betrayed nothing. Me? Well lets just say I don’t handle pressure very well and I giggled throughout, he just kept asking me if I was alright. His assault was very crafty and sly, he took the circuitous route. I’m a little more straight forward, and dumb. My pawns marched on and overtook anything that was close. He maneuvered and took all my good pieces; ie.. Queen, both knights a rook and bishop not to mention quite a few pawns. I was surely doomed. But wait, hope glimmered and I cornered his king with my remaining pawns and bishop. Best part was he never saw it coming.

CHECKMATE!!! And true to his nature he says in a deadpan “Hmmm, I didn’t see that, set it up again”.

I kick ass.

Whoever said that not working is wonderful only got it half right. Because I’m starting to get a little stressed out. Damn people. If our “employees” did the job we paid them too WE sure as hell wouldn’t have to be doing all the shit ourselves! GAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

OK now I’m better. At least for now. I’m really feeling not creative at all. It’s as tho I’ve fallen into some void that sucks all sorts of energy and creates a vacuum out of your spontaneity. Or maybe that’s called winter. Now don’t get me wrong I love winter. But I prefer the cold with snow. Then you can call it winter instead of just FUCKING COLD! Damn sun is deceiving. Looks all pretty and clear and you get outside and your nipples have just cut holes through your shirt & it was a nice shirt too. I think I have an acute case of cabin fever. The walls are really starting to bug me. Not to mention the ceiling and the unfinished projects that abound around here. But the lack of motivation stops them from getting done.

Enough circling. Better quit now before I catch my tail.

Not much to say other than New Years was amazing. We went to a place that allows fireworks, as it does not at “home”. and with the drinking and such that went on the video that follows this post will say more than i will be able to with my fingers.

Other than that we got to spend time with our nephew and our neice this past weekend. As they live over the mountians we rarely get to spend significant chunks of time with them. It was lovely and low key. No expectations, beautiful. It was funny tho, we went from having to wear down coats to light jackets. Amazing the difference a major mountian range makes.

Well with the start of a new year i suppose a few resolutions are in order.

Be motivated
Procastinate less
Finish Major Projects ie.. spare room & bathroom
Take a class ie… metalworking, photography or art
Make my ass smaller

But i could always resolve to do it next year….

I’m thinking about changing the layout again. But I don’t know if I want to do the searching or just make my own html. We’ll see.

Do you know what I did yesterday?!?! I moved the microwave that hasn’t left its spot for 8-9 years. Its such a pain in the ass it takes two people to get it out of the wall cupboard. So once I moved/cleaned it I decided that I kinda liked the space it created so I shoved it next to the refrigerator and moved the booze in the vacated space. I actually really like it. Then because I was doing that I started to clean drawers and other cupboards first was the “Tupperware” drawer and corresponding lids. You will be so proud of me… I threw away any lids that didn’t have a container. It sounds weird but it was a little scary. For anyone who saves anything (i.e. hoarder, junk bug) for the “just in case” or “you never know when you’re gonna need it” moment, this has been a big goddamn deal. And I didn’t even pull it out of the garbage to double check. Granted I went through it with a fine tooth comb (4X) before I got to the bin stage. But I did it! Then of course by doing that 7 other cupboards got a thorough going over. And now there is only 2 left !

Oh its been decided, with my minimum input, or maybe I should say I’ve been nominated to hold thanksgiving at my house this year. But if you know me then you know I’m not terribly disappointed either. And we pretty much have it planned out. Which is weird but exciting too. So it turns out that all this mad crazy cleaning is for a good reason.

But the refrigerator and oven still needs a good scrubbin. Hopefully I’ll get to that today. Fingers crossed

Does anyone else get grumpy when people don’t take care of their animals? Whether it is out right abuse or casual disregard. It always pisses me off. Maybe I’m just expecting too much of people. To love their animals the same way I do. Granted I really love my furry kids but I’m not crazy about it, I think. Fanatical I’m not. But worried I am. Don’t you think that a full sized dog about 10 years old, who is over weight and has major joint problems should go on a diet? At least be put on food that is for older dogs. But he is cast aside. It makes me so angry, he is such a good boy. Loves to go on rides but can’t anymore because of his arthritis. Gods know they can put money out for material things but when it comes to the animals its like they are second class citizens. Suppose I should quit this it only angers me and puts me off for the entire day. GGAAAAAAAAHH!!!!

This has been one of the best weeks this year. Besides the week i quit my job for a life at home, of course.

Sunday we got Apples and have been drying them all week in the food dehydrator. Some plain but some with cinnamon and sugar. Putting them in jars to share. Ah fall. Pumpkin pies are next. Gluten free of course. Did I mention that I make a mean Pie?

Tuesday we awoke to the first hard frost. Actually it was a freeze and I posted the pictures to prove it. Ah Halloween. Including the preparation of said night. All the pumpkin carving and setting up of the luminaries. Even making the cider early so it could simmer for the right amount of time to warm up my cold trick or treaters. Things were wonderful, the yard was alight and the little ones were a little taken aback by the over the top makeup. It made my heart swell. Friends and family all stopped by to “sample” the cider and get cozy before having to get out into the cold air.

With knowing that L had a week or so of vacation planned and that she hadn’t seen the ocean since her 6 year old was in-utero. The chance was seized on a childless day. L stayed the night so we could leave early on Wednesday. We got out of the house a little bit after 5am. Cooler packed and car full of gas we headed over the river and through the woods but not to grandmothers house. The ocean beckoned. We got there quite early 9:30 or so. I have a lead foot. It also helps that neither one of us likes to stop unless absolutely necessary. So once we arrived the entire day was spent beach combing tearing up the sand we even got to nap for an hour or so. We stayed for the sunset even tho we couldn’t see it due to the clouds. The sand and sea turned that shade of slate that only happens at the shore and we headed home. At the top of the pass we encountered flurries and my day was complete. Sand, sea and snow~~ perfect. As for L, I’ve never seen her so relaxed and unworried. If I could do that for her every day, I would.

Thursday I was awoken with the promise of snow. granted it didn’t stick but the falling made me happy.

Today, well today I picked up the film that was dropped off last week. I had been hoping that there were a few with my little man, Spector
in them. I was not disappointed. We got him messing with Scott and a mask, in the cupboard, in a paper sack, laying on a pile of dirty clothes and looking pissed off that we were taking a photo of him. I was so worried that we had found all the photos but I am so happy to have a few more. We even have a few of the girls when they were young and svelte. I’ll post ‘em later in the photo blog thingy.

So that’s been my week. Cool eh?

all hallows approaches

Wow I just realized this month has been terrible for posts. But on the bright side today is Halloween. The cider is brewing, the pumpkins are carved. There is enough candy in this house to give 20 people diabetes. All thats missing is the sand for the luminaries (paper sacks with sand & a candle). Oh and the wisteria needs to be tied back. The clocks hands are moving forward and the air is getting colder ( i can’t belive that to be possible!!) soon the tiny heathens will be pounding on the door. YIPPPEEE!!

Ok. I’ve decided that I must be broken. Or there is some weird cycle at work here that I have yet to divine. Can’t sleep again. This time its all over the place. 2-3 hours interspersed with 10-24 hours of wakefulness then 9-10 hours of sleep. Where is the pattern!?!? Drugs may be the answer. Anybody out there got any??? GAAAAA

Just in case you’ve been under a rock, Halloween is coming. YEA! I’ve got pumpkins to carve & cider to make. It sounds weird but I love running pumpkin guts through my fingers. This time of year makes me so warm & fuzzy. A few of “my kids” are coming over to mutilate the giant orange gourds. I am still uncertain if Samhain will be celebrated in its usual fashion. I’m feeling a little left out and my connection is not as strong this year as it has been in the past. But this year has been strenuous. So I dunno. If anything it’ll be small. I am so conflicted about the whole dang thing. Or maybe I’m just mad at myself for being so blase about it. I should be a little more proactive. But that’s true about everything.

Well bi-polar girl is done with her unintelligent rant. But it had to get out.
